November is known in Panama as the *mes de la patria*, the month of the homeland. The national celebrations, known locally as Fiestas Patrias, bring parades, flags and plenty of activity across the country. For visitors, that means busier streets, some road closures and higher demand for transportation. This guide covers the dates, what to expect in Panama City and how to plan your transfer from the airport.

*Last updated: November 2, 2026.*

## 2026 holiday dates

**Tuesday, November 3:** Separation of Panama from Colombia. Mandatory day of rest.

**Wednesday, November 4:** Patriotic Symbols Day, also known as Flag Day.

**Thursday, November 5:** Colón Day, which commemorates the events in the city of Colón that secured the separation and is celebrated there. It is not Columbus Day.

**Tuesday, November 10:** First Cry of Independence in La Villa de Los Santos.

**Saturday, November 28:** Independence of Panama from Spain. Mandatory day of rest.

Under Panama’s Labor Code, only November 3 and November 28 are mandatory days of rest nationwide. The other dates are observed to varying degrees depending on the location. Parade and event schedules can vary by community, so check official announcements before attending any event.

## Parades in Panama City: what to expect

The Panama City parades on November 3 and 4 use two routes. Route 1 runs through Casco Antiguo, from Plaza Simón Bolívar to Calle 26 on Avenida Balboa. Route 2 runs along Vía España, from the Iglesia del Carmen to the Vía Argentina area.

Street closures begin at 6:00 a.m. along the parade routes, and public transportation is diverted. If you are staying in Casco Viejo, on Vía España or on nearby streets, car access may be limited in the morning. Alternative access routes generally remain open, which allows us to coordinate transfers according to traffic conditions.

## How to plan your airport transfer

**Book in advance.** Demand for transportation rises during the holidays. Booking early secures confirmed transportation for your arrival.

**Share your flight number.** We monitor flights in real time to track schedule changes and coordinate your chauffeur’s arrival at the airport, so they arrive neither too early nor too late.

**Confirm your drop-off point.** If your hotel is near a parade route, ask about access. We coordinate your transfer according to traffic conditions.

**Allow extra time on parade mornings.** Closures can add minutes even on streets outside the route.

**Expect afternoon rain.** November is one of the rainiest months in Panama, with sunny mornings and frequent afternoon downpours. A pre-booked transfer, with your chauffeur waiting for you, saves you from looking for transportation in the rain.
